  • The Had I Known Clause: Sacrifice and the Future

    Once, a wise man declared that the future belongs only to those who can foresee it and are willing to sacrifice present pleasures to attain it.

    I love reading stories about people I admire and those I don’t. The former teaches me what to do and how to do it, while the latter shows me what to avoid and how not to do things. Today, I’ll share a story about Ronald Wayne, one of Apple’s co-founders, whose choices shaped his destiny.

    In 1976, Ronald Wayne joined forces with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak to create Apple Computers (now Apple Inc.). Wayne contributed significantly—he designed the first Apple logo, drafted the original partnership agreement, and even wrote the Apple I Operations Manual. Remarkably, he held a 10% share in the company.

    However, Wayne faced a pivotal decision: he sold his 10% stake back to Jobs and Wozniak for $800, just 12 days after Apple's official registration. A year later, he accepted an additional $1,500 to forfeit any future claims against the company. His reason? The financial demands were too much for him at the time.

    Fast forward to today: Apple has become the first trillion-dollar company. If Wayne had held onto his 10% share, he would be worth over $100 billion—the richest or second-richest person globally. Instead, he received a mere $9,498 in 2017 for his initial investment.

    Ronald Wayne's story teaches us that lasting value requires sacrifice. Greatness doesn't emerge from convenience; it begins with today's sacrifices. Whether it's living in a modest apartment to own an estate or riding a tricycle to pave the way for a Rolls Royce, the path to the future demands commitment.

    Wayne's decision still echoes—a painful reminder of missed opportunities. Imagine if he had persisted. Today, he's worth around $300,000, while the agreement he drafted sells for millions. His story underscores the importance of foresight and determination.

    So, my counsel to you:
    - **Invest** where you see a future.
    - **Sacrifice** when necessary.
    - **Endure** hardships for lasting rewards.
    - **Persist** in your pursuit of greatness.

    Remember the "Had I Known Clause." The future belongs to those who foresee it and give their all to reach it. And always keep in mind: **"Greatness in life is not a product of convenience—it takes sacrifice."**

  • OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

    DATE: MONDAY JULY 1ST 2024

    TOPIC: RETURN ON SEEDS 1

    MEMORISE:
    “And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.” - (Mark 4:20)

    READ: MATTHEW 13:1-8 (KJV)

    1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

    2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

    3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

    4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

    5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

    6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

    7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

    8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

    MESSAGE:

    In finance, there is something called Return on Investment. Likewise, in the kingdom of God, there is something I’ll like to call Return on Seeds. This is the profit you make when a seed is sown in the kingdom of God. According to today’s Bible reading, there is the possibility of having a zero return on seeds sown, or a 30, 60 or 100-fold return. Also, as you will learn later in this series, there is the possibility of having an unlimited return on your seeds.

    Two things determine your return on seeds: the first is what is left with you after sowing. In other words, how sacrificial is your seed? The second is the soil on which you sowed. Today, I will focus on the kind of soil that brings zero return on seeds.

    Many years ago, I was sowing seeds into a ministry abroad. I knew about the law of harvest, so I kept sowing. However, nothing was coming forth. I became worried, and so I started to ask God what was happening. Then, I had a dream. In the dream, I was standing on a farmland with heaps that showed that things had been sown on that land. I lifted one of the heaps, and underneath it was solid concrete. This meant that nothing could grow on that land. When I woke up, I knew the meaning of the dream - the ministry I had been sowing into was as good as concrete ground; no seed will yield returns when sown there.

    If you sow a seed in a place that God does not approve of, your seed will yield no return. God cares about the poor, therefore, when you sow into their lives, Psalm 41:1 says that He will deliver you in the day of trouble. God cares about His prophets and ministers, so when you sow into their lives, you will get a reward (Matthew 10:41-42). God cares about His Church, so when you sow into a ministry, you will be rewarded (Malachi 3:10-12). If the place you sow into only looks like a ministry from the outside but is devoid of God’s presence, then your seeds will yield zero returns. You can decide to give anybody money if you wish, but if it is a seed, ensure that you are sowing in a place or a person that God is interested in.

    Don’t sow your seeds on concrete and expect a return, it will not yield anything.

    KEY POINT:
    Be sure of the soil before you sow your seeds in it.

    HYMNAL: 26 - THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING

    1 There shall be showers of blessing:
    This is the promise of love;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    Sent from the Savior above.
    Showers of blessing,
    Showers of blessing we need;
    Mercy-drops round us are falling,
    But for the showers we plead.

    2 There shall be showers of blessing
    Precious reviving again;
    Over the hills and the valleys,
    Sound of abundance of rain.

    3 There shall be showers of blessing;
    Send them upon us, O Lord!
    Grant to us now a refreshing;
    Come, and now honor Thy Word.

    4 There shall be showers of blessing;
    O that today they might fall,
    Now as to God we’re confessing,
    Now as on Jesus we call!

    5 There shall be showers of blessing,
    If we but trust and obey;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    If we let God have His way.

  • N-POWER 8MONTHS DEBTS TO BE PAID SOON, AS INTERNAL AUDITS AND INVESTIGATIONS LEADS TO RECOVERY OF FUNDS HELD BY CONSULTANTS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.

    The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has recovered funds held by the consultant for several months. The National Program Manager of N-Power, Mr Akindele, made this known following the meeting held with representatives of the N-Power beneficiaries.
    “The good news is that the funds have been recovered yesterday and you will be getting your money soon.
    Payment for N-Power Beneficiaries Batch C who have been owed for eight months will begin soon” he said

    The National Program Manager revealed that the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian affairs and Poverty Alleviation Dr Betta Edu, have been working round the clock to arrest irregularities within the Program and other social investment programmes.

    “These irregularities have made the common man to lose faith in the ability of Government to provide social safety cover for its population but Dr Betta Edu is engaging all necessary steps to resolve these issues and deliver the Renewed Hope Mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Nigerians” he assured

    “Many irregularities which hitherto had sabotaged the smooth implementation of the Program are being addressed. It would be recalled that on assumption of duty it was noted that many beneficiaries did not receive payment for their monthly allowances while monies were been held up by the consultant managing the enrollment and payment system whose contract had long expired. The good news is that the money have been recovered and it would allow for payment of beneficiaries”

    This and more are irregularities which the Honorable Minister is committed to resolving so as to create a good foundation upon which the Renewed Hope N-POWER will expand to reach 5 million young Nigerians.

    The National Program Manager has called on young Nigerians to be patient as the restructuring was in their best interest and it will lead to expansion of the program to accommodate millions of Young people.

    “President Tinubu is committed to eradicating Poverty and he will deliver on it.” He added
