  • Cleansed by the Blood

    ... unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood. Revelation 1:5

    Blood is mentioned 460 times in the Bible. Fourteen times in the New Testament Jesus spoke of His own blood. Why? Because by the shedding of His blood, He accomplished the possibility of our salvation. He paid the penalty for our sin and redeemed us. The penalty for our sin and rebellion is death; Jesus stepped out and said, “I’ll take that death.” He voluntarily laid down His life and took the penalty we deserve. That’s what the cross is all about.

    The blood of Jesus Christ not only redeems us, it justifies us. Being justified means more than being forgiven. I can say, “I forgive you,” but I can’t justify you. But God not only forgives the past, He clothes you in righteousness as though you had never committed a sin. Yet it cost the blood of His Son on the cross.

    Lord Jesus, with a deeply grateful heart I thank You for Your sacrifice upon the cross. Your blood has cleansed my sin and made me worthy of forgiveness.

  • THE KINGDOM IN FOCUS

    For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (ROMANS 14:17)

    Have you got faith? "...Have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemns not himself in that thing which he allows" (Romans 14:22).

    Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Never, never be afraid to do what is right especially if the wellbeing of a person or animal is at stake; society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our souls when we look the other way". The Christian church is uncompromising in its stand against all kind of conduct opposed to scriptural standards.

    Our text deals with issues that bother on the believer's understanding of true Christlikeness, holiness, fruitfulness, doctrine and morals. This involves a sincere rebuking, correcting and evaluation of one another where necessary, in love and humility and the exercise of church discipline on erring members and leaders.

    Believers should refrain from judging one another. Christ our Lord is the One who has the right to judge. We must avoid anything that constitutes a stumbling block to fellow believers especially the weak ones. As believers, whether we are strong or weak, we must realise that true liberty does not lie in the exercise of that liberty if it will disrupt the peace of the body of Christ, knowing that the highest good is only attained in its use to edify the church.

    Use not your liberty as a cloak of maliciousness

  • OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

    DATE: THURSDAY OCTOBER 10TH 2024

    THEME: LOVE FOR GOD

    MEMORISE:

    Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
    Matthew 22:37

    Read: Psalm 63:1-8

    1. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

    2. To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

    3. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

    4. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

    5. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

    6. When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

    7. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

    8. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

    MESSAGE:

    Occasionally, I wonder, “Do I still love God like I used to? Was there a time when I loved Him more than I do now?” In the past, many of us were willing to do anything for Him; we were hungry to please Him at whatever cost and give to Him even when we had next to nothing. I remember the days when we used to have Bible Study Leaders Retreat, and we would take offerings. From the offerings, you would know that if the congregation had more, they would willingly give more. One brother gave his belt because he didn’t have any money to give!

    How is your love for God now? Is it greater or less than it was before? There are people who, when they got born again, could dance vigorously during praise and worship, not caring if anyone was looking at them. Now, they can’t even shout hallelujah at the top of their voices. No matter how big a fellow is, he or she is still nothing before God. If a person is too big to dance for Him, He can decide to show that fellow how small he or she really is.

    One day, I asked God, “Lord, David did a lot of terrible things, even more than Saul, yet You said David was a man after Your heart while You rejected Saul. I know that You are not partial, but I am curious to know why.” He responded, “What did David do in 2 Samuel 6:14?” I replied, “He danced with all his might.” Then He asked, “Can you show me a place in the Bible where Saul danced for me?” That was when I really knew why God rejected Saul. It is not so much about dancing; rather, it is about the heart of a man after God has raised him. David’s love for God increased as he went higher, while Saul’s love reduced as he went higher. Which of these two are you?

    If a believer’s love for God is reducing, such a believer is not far off from offending Him, and that might result in God rejecting the fellow. If you don’t believe me, read Philippians 1:9-10:

    "And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;"

    May your love for God keep increasing for the rest of your life, in Jesus’ name.

    Prayer Point:

    Father, please let my love for You abound more and more every day, in Jesus' name.

    Bible in one year:
    Matthew 25-26

    AUTHOUR : PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

    HYMN 23: TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE

    1. Take my life and let it be
    consecrated, Lord, to thee.
    Take my moments and my days;
    let them flow in endless praise,
    let them flow in endless praise.

    2. Take my hands and let them move
    at the impulse of thy love.
    Take my feet and let them be
    swift and beautiful for thee,
    swift and beautiful for thee.

    3. Take my voice and let me sing
    always, only, for my King.
    Take my lips and let them be
    filled with messages from thee,
    filled with messages from thee.

    4. Take my silver and my gold;
    not a mite would I withhold.
    Take my intellect and use
    every power as thou shalt choose,
    every power as thou shalt choose.

    5. Take my will and make it thine;
    it shall be no longer mine.
    Take my heart it is thine own;
    it shall be thy royal throne,
    it shall be thy royal throne.

    6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
    at thy feet its treasure store.
    Take myself, and I will be
    ever, only, all for thee,
    ever, only, all for thee.
