Meanwhile, in the West, Organic options most times are more expensive than fast food. Yet, we crave the very foods that contribute to illnesses and diseases plaguing our world. My own journey across the globe has seen a shift from excitement over Nando's and Starbucks to preferring humble mamak stores. I've traded KFC in Dubai for organic eats in hidden gems. In Africa, you can plant organic food without a license, while in some Western places, you still need permission to grow your own. What we enjoy for a fraction of the cost in Africa is a luxury in the West. What we enjoy in Africa for a dime is a fortune in the west. You are rich with a little in Africa but Poor with so much in the West. This made me question: what does being rich or poor truly mean? Is it about abundance or scarcity? Let's redefine our values and prioritize health, community, and the environment.
