Isaiah 30:21 Children of God who are not sensitive in these last days will have themselves to blame. You have to be prayerful, careful and sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, particularly because there are mixed multitudes all around the Church today. There are even churches that belong to Satan but have the appearance of belonging to Jesus Christ. There are also demonic agents prowling around and deceiving people. If you are not very watchful, you will become one of their victims. That will not be your portion in Jesus’ Name. Although God wants His children to hear from Him and get His best, one factor inhibiting this is the fact that they have idols in their hearts which prevent them from hearing from Him clearly. You can be seeking God’s face for direction but also be hoarding idols in your heart. If you really want the Almighty God to guide you, you have to eradicate all forms of idols from your life. There are many single in the Body of Christ today who are not yet married even though they are of age. Some of them have allowed idols in their hearts for so long a time that they have not been able to look in the direction God is leading them to. For a user of this devotional trusting God for a marriage partner, the Lord will direct your steps in Jesus’ Name. You can never get anything better than what God has in store for you. You will observe that after the Lord made Eve out of Adam, Adam had no difficulty recognising his wife (Genesis 2:22-23). Once your spirit man is highly sensitive, you will always receive God’s signals on the right thing to do each time. (Isaiah 42:16) There are many homes experiencing frustration today. It is because they have not allowed the voice of God to speak to them. God has spoken, but they have all along been listening to the idols in their heart. Not all that glitters is gold. Not all open doors are opened by God. If you really want the blessings of God in your life and home, you have to eradicate the voice of all the idols in your heart. Even if you are totally blind, as long as you depend on God for direction, His promises for your life will lead you to where you will find rest for your soul. I prophesy into your life that you will not miss your way in Jesus’ Name. Wherever God is taking you, you can rest assured that you are heading for a glorious destiny. He will lead you so clearly that you will be so sure of where you are going. He will lead you so convincingly that you can guarantee the outcome of your choice even before you embark on it. There is nothing as safe as allowing God to direct you in every sphere of life. If you hear well from Him, you will end well. Measure the expectations of your heart against the standard of Gods word. A Voice Of Praise Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits (Psalm 103:2) The popular saying that “a person who knows how to show appreciation for a previous favour will receive another”, instructively guides us into our discussion today. It is doubtful if there is any culture the world over where good gestures are not appreciated. And there is no individual anywhere who does not understand what it means to express gratitude for favours and kindness received from a benefactor. David, the great psalmist, here calls our attention to who and what God is, His attributes and actions; who and what we are in the light of His omnipotence and lavished blessings upon us. It is not unlikely that we often take all that we are enjoying for granted and never meditate on the source of our blessings and favour. How often do we praise God in appreciation of His goodness? The passage outlines the attributes of God as they touch on human frailty and our need of divine power to survive the challenges of our world. God is righteous and just, merciful and gracious, loving and faithful. He forgives our sins, heals our diseases, protects us from death, surrounds us with tender mercies and satisfies us with the good things of life. What a good God we have! We are challenged never to forget all His benefits. In our daily activities, the hustling and bustling of our cities and engagements in Christian service, we must always remember to praise God for all the wonderful blessings and mercies we receive from Him. THE WELL OF COMPASSION Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way (MATTHEW 15:32) Many pastors took turns to minister to a condemned criminal. They preached to him in an attempt to win him to Christ. But the condemned man was unmoved by their "powerful" preaching. At last, a layman visited the man. He entered the death row cell, sat on the camp bed with him, took him by the hand and said, "We are in a bad fix, aren't we?" For that gesture, the condemned criminal broke into tears and shortly after, yielded to Christ. Compassion prevailed. The man was in need of somebody who would understand and care. It is important to consider the attitude of Christ and His motivation for the miracle in our text. His statement in today's key verse is instructive. The people had had no regular meal through the three days they had been seeking Him in His solitude on the mountain. Christ's attitude just speaks volumes about our need to have compassion and empathy in our quest to win the unconverted to Christ. We must learn to feel for people in their plight. Our compassion must be deep enough to compel helpful action. Love and kindness are cardinal ingredients in a Christian's makeup. Compassionate action is a language people understand faster than religious jargons. Observe also that the feeding of the people was not the goal of the occasion - the people had continued with Christ for three days feeding on God's word. We must go beyond the satisfaction of the people's physical and material needs to meeting their spiritual needs. As you reflect on the response of Christ in today's text, think of what you can do to compassionately solve the spiritual and physical problems of people around you.
